IMPACT On Prototyping

What is
Prototyping?

An Overview
Technology has had a major impact on the prototyping process. Today it is possible to electronically build and test numerous parts and assemblies before physical parts have been created. The virtual prototyping process may reduce one or more costly and time-consuming cycles of building and testing.

Rapid prototype parts and assemblies can be built almost overnight and can be used for fit and function in a fraction of the time and at a fraction the cost as compared to traditional processes. Early identification of design errors will reduce time consuming and costly changes during the tooling and assembly phases of the manufacturing cycle.

Rapid tooling enables engineers to build parts and assemblies in native end use materials to be tested under real world conditions for functionality and durability. Again, the objective is to reduce costly and time-consuming changes to final tooling.
